Carlos Alcaraz Garfia staged a remarkable comeback to beat Novak Djokovic and secure his first Wimbledon title win on Sunday.

The 20-year-old claimed his second Grand Slam title after coming back from a set down to win 1-6, 7-6, 6-1, 3-6, 6-4.

Djokovic had raced to a 40-0 lead before closing out an imperious opening set 6-1 with an emphatic smash at the net.

Alcaraz, however, recovered from a shaky start to deliver a high-quality championship match display.

He won a huge tiebreaker to secure the second set, leaving the scoreline at 1-1.

The Spaniard then blew Djokovic away to claim the third set 6-1!

The seven-time champion recovered to win the 4th set 6-3 before Alcaraz claimed the fifth set 6-4 to secure the Wimbledon title.

The world no.1, who won the 2022 US Open at the age of 19, became the sixth player to have won multiple Grand Slam titles before turning 21.

Bjorn Borg, Boris Becker, Goran Ivanisevic, David Nalbandian and Rafael Nadal (2006) are other players to have achieved the feat.

Alcaraz now has a 2-1 winning record over Djokovic in their three meetings so far — ATP Tour in Madrid, the 2023 French Open, and now Wimbledon.

As the 2023 Wimbledon champion, Alcaraz will be going home with prize money of £2,350,000.
