ALERT: INEC warns Nigerians against fake recruitment advert

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has alerted Nigerians to a fraudulent recruitment advert currently circulating on social media.

The fake publication, bearing INEC’s name and logo, invites applications from “suitably qualified candidates” for positions such as registration area officers (RAOs) on grades 7 and 8 and experienced professionals on grades 9 to 14.

The document outlines qualifications ranging from bachelors and masters degrees to national diplomas and certificates in education, while also specifying age limits of 35 years for entry-level applicants and 45 years for senior roles.

Job descriptions for handling polling unit records, voter registration, and issuance of voter cards were also included.

The counterfeit advert further directs applicants to log on to http://www.inecrecruitment.com to complete an online application.

But in a statement on Wednesday, the commission disowned the recruitment portal as fake.

INEC said it is not conducting any recruitment exercise at this time and urged Nigerians to ignore the publication.

“Our attention has been drawn to a fake advertorial currently circulating on social media, giving the impression that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is recruiting for various positions,” the statement reads.

“The Commission, hereby, calls on the public to disregard this fraudulent call for applications. The Commission IS NOT recruiting. Do not fall victim to the antics of criminal elements.”
