Alex Otti
Alex Otti, governor of Abia, says critical and effective intelligence gathering is necessary in curbing insecurity across the country.
Otti spoke on Friday while addressing Course 47 of the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji.
He urged the troops to prioritise intelligence, noting that it would enable them to timely prevent criminal activities.
“A lot of times, if you pay attention to intelligence, you are able to nip in the bud majority of the cases before they happen,” the governor said.

“So, you pay attention to intelligence, it’s good that, this is what this course is about too.
“We have also held a strong view that security starts from intelligence; because thorough and well put together intelligence would always predict and sometimes put the other forces in a state of readiness.”
Otti lauded the admission of foreign military students for training. He said it reflects international confidence in Nigeria’s military institutions.

He also hailed the discipline and cooperation of military personnel in Abia, noting that their collaboration with his administration has helped to maintain security.
Also speaking, Aniefok Uko, deputy commandant of the college, said the state visit would enable the students gain practical exposure, best practices, and consolidate the theoretical knowledge acquired at the college.
