Olatunbosun Oyintiloye
Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun, has implored Nigerians to support President Bola Tinubu’s efforts to curb terrorism and insecurity in the country.
Speaking with journalists on Sunday in Osogbo, Oyintiloye said this is not the time for political or religious divisions but for collective action to defend the nation’s sovereignty.
“At this critical period, Nigerians, irrespective of political or religious affiliations, should come together to support the President and join efforts to overcome the lingering security challenges facing the country,” he said.
The former lawmaker said US President Donald Trump’s threat of military action in Nigeria over alleged massacre of Christians should concern every citizen.

He noted that while the Tinubu administration and security agencies are working to curb violent crimes, unity among Nigerians remains crucial.
“The current security situation did not start with President Tinubu’s administration but has evolved over time from terrorism to banditry,” he said.
“At no point has Nigeria fought a war against any particular religion.

“We must come together and rally behind the President at this period.
“Our religious or political affiliations are irrelevant; what we need is oneness and unity to protect the sovereignty of our dear country.”
Oyintiloye said terrorism has affected all faiths, restating that Muslims and Christians have suffered losses to the violence.
He acknowledged the concerns expressed by the US, but urged cooperation based on intelligence sharing and military equipment support, rather than foreign troop deployment.

“Getting foreign support in terms of equipment will be good but not deployment of soldiers,” he said.
“It may complicate the situation and lead to a greater problem. The political, religious, and community leaders must be united in their resolve to protect the country.”
The APC stalwart also cautioned opposition members against divisive rhetoric, saying insecurity affects everyone regardless of political alignment.
“This is not a time to play opposition politics. We must all come to the realisation that all our hopes, aspirations, and dreams to get public offices rest squarely on the continued existence of Nigeria,” he said.

“Our current set of leaders will be there for a period of time and move on. But Nigerians must not walk into a trap that will make the country cease to exist. With the cooperation of all stakeholders, we have the capacity to end terrorism.”
Oyintiloye also appealed to the newly appointed service chiefs to justify the confidence reposed in them by the president.

He urged them to work diligently to defeat terrorists and restore peace across the country.
“What Tinubu needs at this time is the support of all Nigerians,” he said.
