Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar exchanged pleasantries with Ayo Fayose, governor of Ekiti state, and Rauf Aregbesola, governor of Osun state, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja on Wednesday.

The politicians were seen holding hands, and laughing.

Fayose and Aregbesola have been seen together publicly in recent times, but the meeting with the former number two man of the nation is one of its kind.

Since there are lots of speculations about 2019, could the politicians be thinking of an alliance?

Abubakar has not declared his interest to contest the next presidential election, but tongues are already wagging that the influential businessman would take another shot at the highest office in the land, after several unsuccessful attempts.

In 2007, he contested the presidential poll under the platform of Action Congress (AC) but came a distant third behind the late President Musa Yar’Adua and President Muhammadu Buhari.

Four years later, he emerged the consensus candidate of the north after defeating heavyweights like Ibrahim Babaginda, former military president, but ex-President Goodluck Jonathan beat him to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ticket.

His bid to emerge candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2015 presidential election did not also come to pass.
