A newly completed state-of-the-art aluminium and copper recycling plant in Ogun state is targeting an annual reduction of over 377,000 tonnes of carbon emissions.

In a statement on Tuesday, Ibidapo Lawal, chief executive officer of Neveah Limited and promoter of the facility, said the plant has the capacity to process over 44,000 metric tonnes of aluminium and copper per year.

According to Lawal, the facility is expected to generate more than $150 million in export revenue, with at least 500 direct and over 6,000 indirect jobs created across the value chain.

“In its initial production run, the plant delivered aluminium ingots with an impressive purity level of 85.1%, setting the tone for Neveah’s target of consistent, export-grade output,” he said.

“Equipped with cutting-edge instruments, the plant is built to meet and exceed international quality standards—ensuring that each ingot produced is fit for global markets.

“This technological edge is central to Neveah’s strategy of positioning Nigeria as a competitive player in the international metals trade.

“This milestone is more than just production—it’s a glimpse into our future. We are not just recycling; we are redefining how Africa contributes to the global circular economy.”

Lawal said the plant’s operations align with Nigeria’s push for sustainable industrial growth. He added that the company is transforming scrap into high-purity metals to strengthen Nigeria’s role in the global recycling economy.
