Akinwumi Ambode, a former accountant-general of Lagos state who is seeking to contest the next governorship election of the state under the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC), will formally declare his intention on Friday.
The campaign organisation of the politician, who has already picked up APC’s expression of Interest nomination form, said that the declaration will take place at Onikan Stadium by 10am.
“The declaration is expected to be a carnival-like endorsement of Ambode by stakeholders from all the 57 council areas in Lagos State,” the statement read.
“It is an opportunity for the frontline aspirant to thank party stalwarts who have given him good reception during his yearlong consultation and to sell his five-point agenda of continuity and consolidation to Lagosians.”

Having worked at the state civil service for almost three decades, Ambode has had the opportunity of going round the state, a development which his campaign team believes gives him an edge over other aspirants.
The 51-year-old says he is prepared to compete with other aspirants of the party at the primary election, scheduled for November 15.
