Akinwumi Ambode, a Lagos state governorship aspirant on the platform of All Progressive Congress (APC), hosted honourable members of the state house of assembly to a private dinner in Ikeja, Lagos, on Thursday.

Apart from the massive attendance recorded at the dinner and strategic consultation meeting, the legislators also greeted Ambode’s passionate speech with a standing ovation that lasted for several minutes.

At the dinner, attended by 36 of 40 members of the house, Ambode (pictured, middle) presented himself as an informed, articulate but humble candidate who does not only profess respect for the legislative arm of government but one who also submits himself totally to the authority and guidance of the party.

Addressing the honourable members, he spoke about his desire to build on the achievements of Bola Tinubu and Babatunde Fashola, whom he worked with as accountant-general and permanent-secretary, respectively.

He also highlighted his core programmes under the acronym LAGOS – Leadership, Accountability, Good Governance, Opportunities and Service – and promised not to let the state down if he secures the party’s nod at the primaries on December 2.

Meanwhile, Ambode, who had a talk-of-the-town declaration at the Onikan Stadium last month, will commence a tour of the 20 local government areas in Lagos, beginning from this Monday.

According to a release from the media and communications team of his campaign organisation, the tour of the LGs is in furtherance of his respect for party institutions and belief in reaching out to all and sundry.
