President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Aminu Maigari, has been impeached by the board of the federation.

Thirteen board members converged on the secretariat of the NFF Thursday for what was supposed to be a board meeting, but turned out to be an impeachment process.

The committee said the secrecy surrounding all financial dealings of the federation and failure to convene a meeting of the Executive Committee for the past eight months necessitated the impeachment.

They claimed that during that period, many weighty decisions on Nigerian football were taken by a small cabal within the board, so the executive committee passed a vote of no-confidence on the NFF president.
