Amnesty International has condemned the alleged killing of 23 farmers and fishermen by insurgents in Borno state.
The farmers and fishers were said to have been killed by members of the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) on Thursday, in Malam Karanti, Kukawa LGA of the state.
In a statement issued on Thursday, Amnesty International described the killing as “ruthless”, calling on the government to take urgent action to protect civilians.
“Boko Haram must end its vicious killing spree targeting civilians. The deliberate killing of civilians and destruction of their property by Boko Haram are war crimes and crimes against humanity and must be duly investigated,” the statement reads.
