Amotekun rescues three remaining travellers abducted in Ondo

Operatives of the Ondo command of the south-west security network, code-named Amotekun, have rescued the three remaining travellers who were abducted in the state.

Twelve travellers, who were on their way to Lagos on Wednesday, were abducted by gunmen at Idoani-Ifira axis of Ondo state.

On Thursday, Adetunji Adeleye, Ondo commander of Amotekun, confirmed the rescue of nine of the travellers.

“Our men responded to the gunshots and a distress call. They got there on time and were able to rescue nine of them,” he had said.

“They took them to our office in Isua and released them after giving them necessary attention.

“The vehicle and its driver have also been released to the police. We are now on the trail of the kidnappers to rescue the remaining three victims.”

Speaking at a media briefing on Saturday, Adeleye said the three remaining travellers had regained their freedom.

“I can confirm to you that we have rescued the three remaining victims and they will be reunited with their families today,” he said.
