Tobi Amusan has claimed her fifth consecutive national title in the women’s 100 metres hurdles event.
The 27-year-old dipped at 12.57 seconds and was way ahead of her competitors in a one-sided final of the event on Sunday at the national trial at the Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH) sport centre.
The world record-holder finished ahead of Adaobi Tabugbo, who was second in 13.03 seconds and Faith Osamuyi with 13.36 seconds for 3rd place.
The victory was Amusan’s fifth national title in a row, having swept to victory at the Olympic trials in Lagos in 2021 before winning thrice in Benin in the last three years.

In the women’s 100m, Chioma Nweke defeated Olayinka Olajide and claimed her first-ever maiden national title.
The reigning African U-20 champion coasted to victory in 11.27 seconds ahead of Olajide, who ran 11.39 seconds, while Iyanuoluwa Bada was third in 11.45 seconds.
In the men’s 400m, Gafar Badmus claimed the national title after dipping a time of 45.71 ahead of Ezekiel Asuquo, who ended up in second spot in a time of 46.29s, while David Akhalu placed third in a time of 46.91s.
