Amy Jadesimi, managing director of the Lagos Deep Offshore Logistics Base (LADOL), says enterprises like LADOL are “charting a new course, guided by sustainable principles”.

Jadesimi made the remark while giving a keynote address at the 2018 German Corporation for International Cooperation (GIZ) symposium on social and economic development which held in Bad Neuenahr, Germany from September 11 to September 13.

She said the world has improved dramatically over the past few hundred years as a result of globalisation.

Jadesimi said though there might be a “global turmoil,” now is the time for businesses to search for new operating models that will make them flourish with the help of appropriate public sector policies.

“Lose the mindset that this is a negative thing. We are in a golden age right now. All the ingredients for positive, sustainable change are present,” she said.

“There have never been as many educated, healthy connected people in the world as there are now and we have definitive evidence that sustainable operating models will out-compete non-sustainable ones.

“Be optimistic and use this time to support and enable sustainable private sector companies in low income, high growth countries to flourish.”

The LADOL MD said operating sustainable businesses will lead to massive job creation and attract the trillions of dollars “needed to meet the United Nations 17 global goals and 169 targets”.
