Echeng Echeng, Anambra commissioner of police in Anambra, says traditional rulers in the state should use their positions to promote security.

According to a statement by Toochukwu Ikenga, Anambra police spokesman, the commissioner of police made the call on Saturday during a visit to Alfred Achebe, Anambra state traditional rulers council chairman and Obi of Onitsha.

Echeng urged traditional rulers to use their proximity to communities to promote national interests and help security forces in the battle against crime.

He said honest and patriotic involvement is crucial in identifying individual differences and prioritisation of goals.

“I call on you, our respected traditional rulers in Anambra, to use your position to open channels of communication with your subjects to promote security and national interests.

“We need honest and patriotic involvement to identify our differences.’’
