Anambra guber: Reports of Obiano asking workers to submit PVCs false, says commissioner

Anambra guber: Reports of Obiano asking workers to submit PVCs false, says commissioner

C. Don Adinuba, Anambra commissioner for information, says reports making the rounds that civil servants in the state have been directed to submit their permanent voter cards (PVCs) is false.

Adinuba said this in reaction to reports that the campaign organisation of Andy Uba, governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), accused the state government of requesting the PVCs of workers in the state.

There were reports earlier on Monday that the senator Andy Uba gubernatorial campaign organisation (SAUGCO) accused Willie Obiano, Anambra governor, of directing civil servants in the state to submit their PVCs.

Reacting in a statement on Monday, the commissioner denied the claim, and said the APC and Uba’s campaign organisation are peddling the “propaganda” to deceive the former senator.

“This afternoon, the propagandists issued a press statement claiming that Governor Willie Obiano has directed all civil servants to submit their permanent voters’ cards (PVCs) to him,” the statement reads.

“How all civil servants in the state can personally and directly hand over their voters’ cards to the governor is a conundrum which only these funny propagandists can resolve. The so-called directive or circular has no reference number nor date.

“Of course, the propagandists could not reproduce the alleged directive. All this shows that the press statement is lower than ordinary fake news.

“The flurry of bizarre statements emanating daily from both the Anambra State APC and the Andy Ubah Governorship Campaign Organisation owes to only one thing: a desperation to swindle a fortune from the supposed APC gubernatorial candidate while the electioneering campaign lasts.”

Among the candidates Uba is contesting against include: Chukwuma Soludo, governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), and Valentine Ozigbo, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The election is scheduled to hold on November 6, 2021.
