The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) has announced Carlo Ancelotti as their new head coach.
The 65-year-old Italian will take over the Brazilian national team on May 26, an appointment that will make him the nation’s first permanent foreign head coach. It is also the former Chelsea manager’s first international role.
Ednaldo Rodrigues, the CBF president, announced Ancelotti as its new coach on Monday. Ancelotti will leave his current role at Real Madrid for the South American giants.
He is expected to lead five-time world champions Brazil until the 2026 World Cup.

Ancelotti will take over a managerless Brazil that sacked Dorival Junior in March following poor performances. He is the country’s fifth coach in less than three years.
In his press conference announcing the choice of Ancelotti, Rodrigues stated that the move is a “statement” that the Selecao wants to return to the top of national team football, and Ancelotti is the serial winner to bring the “new chapter” of success.
“Bringing Carlo Ancelotti to lead Brazil is more than a strategic move. It is a statement to the world that we are determined to reclaim the top spot on the podium,” he said.

“He is the greatest coach in history, and now he is leading the greatest national team on the planet.
“Together, we will write new glorious chapters for Brazilian football.”
Ancelotti will start his reign on the South American continent with the next two qualifying games for the World Cup against Ecuador and Paraguay next month.
Ancelotti, one of the most successful managers in football, is the only coach to win each of Europe’s top-five leagues. He won La Liga and Champions League titles respectively with Real Madrid, and his 15 titles with the club makes him the most decorated coach in Real Madrid history.
