Anheuser-Busch InBev to open $250m brewery in Sagamu

Anheuser-Busch InBev, makers of Budweiser and Hero lager beer, has revealed plans to open a $250 million brewery in Sagamu.

Speaking in Onitsha recently at the unveiling of a red crown cork of Hero lager beer, Arne Rust, the company’s marketing director, said the investment is a sign of commitment to Nigeria.

He said after the company considered Nigeria’s huge market, young population, the resilience and entrepreneurial drive of the people as well as the abundant human and natural resources, it has no doubt about the country’s huge economic potential.

“Nigeria’s potential for growth and development is enormous,” he said.

He said more products would be introduced in the country via the new plant, create employment and livelihood for many and revenue for the government.

He said the ease of doing business and investor confidence in Nigeria will improve as the government address power and infrastructural challenges.

Rust said AB InBev would continue to grow its investment in Nigeria, enabling the country to capitalize on the enormous opportunities for economic transformation.

Nnaemeka Alfred Achebe, the obi of Onitsha, who was represented by Okey Ononye, Onowu Iyase of Onitsha, said the adoption of a red crown for the product signified respect for the cultural heritage of the southeasterners.
