Abdulmumin Jibrin, the member representing Kiru/Bebeji constituency in the house of representatives and a close ally of Rabiu Kwankwaso, 2023 presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), says he may leave the party.
The lawmaker, who visited President Bola Tinubu on August 11 — his second meeting with the president in just two weeks — said his political decisions remain personal and independent.
“Anything can happen, I can leave NNPP and I can stay, and I can also return back to APC, PDP, ADC, PRP or anywhere I want,” Jibrin said.
”When I make decisions regarding that, people will know. It’s not surprising I did, and I told you, I am old enough to decide for myself.”

On his relationship with Kwankwaso, Jibrin, who spoke in an interview with DCL Hausa, said he remains loyal to the former governor of Kano.
“Yes, Kwankaso is the one I called ‘Boss’ politically, this will never change whether we are in the same party or not. He helped me when my good friend Nasarawa Abdullahi Adamu linked me with him,” he added.
“I know Abdullahi Adamu through Obasanjo. And he loved me. So whether I am with him or not, you will never hear me insulting him or saying something bad about him.”

Jibrin spoke about his journey in politics, saying he entered the arena already financially comfortable, having had his education supported by his parents.
He said he invested effort and resources to win elections and serve his constituents in Kiru/Bebeji, adding that he has never sought government contracts or used his position for personal gain.
“I joined politics as a rich person; my parents sponsored my academics. Now I have PhD and I established a big company. I suffered, I worked hard and spent a lot of money so that we could win that election,” he added.
“I did what I could, especially for my constituents in Kiru/Bebeji. I have never asked for a government contract, nor recommended someone for personal gain. I bought my properties in Kano with my hard-earned money. Kwankwasiyya helped me, and I do too.”
