Felix Morka, spokesperson of the APC
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused the African Democratic Congress (ADC) of making “opportunistic and grossly insensitive” remarks over the killing of residents in Malumfashi, Katsina state.
On Sunday, the opposition coalition described the spate of attacks as a sign that Nigeria’s security architecture is “crumbling”.
In a statement on Monday, Felix Morka, spokesperson of the APC, said the incident was a national tragedy that should not be politicised.
“It is a thing of national tragedy when lives of innocent and law-abiding citizens are cut down by forces of evil and terror,” the statement reads.

“It is despicable and must be condemned by all Nigerians. Our thoughts and prayers remain with the families of the victims of this and other incidents.”
Morka said such attacks remind Nigerians of their common humanity and the need to support security operatives who risk their lives daily in the fight against terrorism.
He accused the ADC of trying to exploit the killings for “inordinate partisan political points”.

“That party’s suggestion that the president of the federal republic of Nigeria must remain grounded and go nowhere but sit in anticipation of attacks by shadowy forces of terror is remarkably lame and senseless, and shows the ADC to be without any understanding of government and its workings,” he said.
Morka said the ADC’s “indulgence in false narratives and propaganda” was responsible for its “zero scores” in the recent bye-elections.
He added that President Bola Tinubu’s international engagements are crucial to attracting investments, strengthening security partnerships, and enhancing military support.
“It was just a few days ago that Boko Haram founder’s son and two Ansaru leaders were captured in joint Nigeria-Chad raids which have been widely hailed as major anti-terrorism breakthroughs,” he said.

Morka said Tinubu has shown a consistent commitment to security through the deployment of special forces, investment in advanced technology, and review of the national security strategy.
He added that the APC-led administration is working with security agencies to bring perpetrators of the Katsina killings to justice.
“The APC remains focused on delivering solutions and will not be distracted by mischievous political theatrics that is the staple of chatterbox ADC,” Morka said.
