The Sokoto state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has beaten the deadline that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) issued to political parties to submit the names of deputy governorship candidates.

Ahmed Aliyu, the current commissioner for health in the state, has been selected as the running mate to Aminu Tambuwal, the speaker of the house of representatives and flagbearer of the party in the forthcoming gubernatorial election.

Usman Danmadami-Isa, the acting chairman of APC in Sokoto, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday.

Danmadami-Isa said that the decision was reached after consultation with Tambuwal and other stakeholders of the party in the state.

The party urged all its members to work assiduously to ensure total success in the 2015 general election and prayed for peace and harmony to reign in the state and country, during and after the election.

Friends and associates of Tambuwal, who defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the opposition party, initially purchased the presidential form of APC for him, but he eventually opted to enlist for the Sokoto state gubernatorial race.
