(L): Hadiza Balarabe, deputy governor of Kaduna, receives the award on behalf of the governor
The Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) has given Uba Sani, governor of Kaduna, a special recognition award for his “exemplary leadership and transformative governance”, anchored on youth empowerment, innovation and inclusive development.
The award was presented on Thursday at the opening of the PGF quarterly meeting of commissioners for youth and sports in APC-governed states.
Folorunso Aluko, PGF director-general, who presented the award, commended Sani’s commitment to measurable and progressive development in Kaduna.
Aluko described the governor as “a visionary, reform-minded, and people-driven leader whose tenure exemplifies the ideals of progressive governance.”

He highlighted Sani’s achievements in education, digital learning, industrialisation, agriculture, and health, which, according to him, are all driven by a “data-informed and transparent approach”.
The PGF DG also praised the governor for promoting peace, unity, and economic inclusion through strategic human capital, security, and rural development investments.
Hadiza Balarabe, the deputy governor, who received the award on behalf of Sani, emphasised Kaduna’s model of youth-centred governance and urged participants to embrace practical solutions and policy alignment.

She noted that the Kaduna youth economic empowerment programme (K-YEEP) had supported over 6,000 startups in under two years, while the state’s TechHUBs had trained young people in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and robotics.
The deputy governor commended the PGF secretariat for tools like the executive briefs and weekly pulse, which enhance state visibility.
She challenged commissioners to “measure success through impact metrics such as jobs created, businesses launched, sports medals won, and community solutions implemented.”
