Yahaya Bello, governor of Kogi state, says governors of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have confidence in John Odigie-Oyegun, national chairman of the party.
Bello, who said this while speaking with state house correspondents on Thursday, was reacting to the allegations of sabotage levelled against Odigie-Oyegun by Bola Tinubu, the party’s national leader.
TheCable had reported how Tinubu, who was assigned to reconcile aggrieved members of the party, wrote a letter, accusing Oyegun of “sabotaging” the assignment.
“Disappointment greeted me when I discovered that you had swiftly acted in contravention of the spirit of our discussions,” Tinubu wrote.
“Instead of being a bulwark of support as promised, you positioned yourself in active opposition to the goal of resuscitating the progressive and democratic nature of APC.”
But Bello said while he supports the reconciliatory efforts, some erring parry members of the party ought to be disciplined.
“We the governors and the majority of APC members have confidence in our national chairman, Chief John Oyegun,” he said.
“We also believe in the president by appointing Bola Tinubu, our leader to reconcile some aggrieved members of our party. However, one size fits all will not work in all the states where some erring members need to be disciplined.”
On Friday, Odigie-Oyegun and Tinubu met in Abuja.
