Ismaeel Ahmed, senior special assistant to the president on social investment programmes, has inaugurated polling unit ambassadors ahead of 2019 elections.

Ahmed, who was also named as a director on the APC presidential campaign council, said the unit ambassadors were set up to maximise the potential votes of each unit.

“Voters alone don’t win elections from experience, organisational structure does. It is our responsibility to dig in and ensure that we construct an elaborate structure at every polling unit to reinforce our winning chances with good enough margin,” he said.

“The Unit Ambassadors was set up to maximize the potential votes of each unit. It is to convince, convey, convert and confirm votes for President Buhari on February 16. We are not taking anything for granted.

“They know most of the eligible voters by name and address. They will knock on doors convince people to agree to come out. Convey those who need help getting to polling units on election day.

“Dishing out all necessary information before election day as regards time, place and mode of election. Encourage voters to wait till after votes are counted and announced and ensure general peaceful conduct of supporters.”

The Kano state born politician had recently made a call to all political appointees of the President Buhari administration to demonstrate their political relevance in this period by engaging their local communities.
