The All Progressives Congress Campaign Council in Kaduna will on Wednesday hold a special women summit in Kaduna.

The summit which will take place at Arewa House has its theme as “The Role of Women in Elections”.

Women from all sections of Kaduna society, including representatives of professional women groups, women in business, rural women and market women associations are expected to be in attendance.

According to Ruth Alkali, director of APC women mobilization in the state, two papers will be presented at the summit. The first paper will be on the “Role of Women in Determining the Outcome of an Election”, and the second one is on the “Role of Women as Peacemakers and as a stabilising Force in the aftermath of Elections.”

Nasir el Rufai who is the candidate of the APC in Saturday’s governorship poll will be the keynote speaker and will also participate in an interactive session with participants at the conference.

This according to Alkali will “provide an opportunity for el Rufai to hear directly from women whose role in nation building he considers critical.

“Any society that ignores women is unlikely to make appreciable progress,’’ she said.

El Rufai according to her is determined to take Kaduna to great heights and knows his vision cannot be achieved without women. It is for this reason she said that the summit was being organised.
