The All Progressives Congress (APC) has nominated Ibrahim Gobir, senator representing Sokoto east, as the new senate majority leader and chairman of the ruling party’s caucus.

Gobir is the chair of the senate committee on national security and intelligence.

Ibrahim Yahaya, the former senate majority leader, resigned his position after he defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The ruling party’s decision was contained in a letter addressed to Senate President Ahmad Lawan by Abdullahi Adamu, the APC national chairman.

“While thanking you for the usual cooperation, please accept the assurances of our best regards.”
