Nentawe Yilwatda, national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has presented the certificate of return to Bola Oyebamiji, the party’s governorship candidate in Osun state.
Yilwatda presented the certificate to Oyebamiji at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja on Friday in the presence of members of the national working committee (NWC), including Ajibola Basiru, national secretary; Sulaiman Argungu, national organising secretary; and Chidi Duru, deputy national organising secretary.
The APC chairman described Oyebamiji’s emergence by consensus as a demonstration of unity, maturity, and internal cohesion within the party.
He said the consensus outcome reflected the collective resolve of the APC and the understanding that success in leadership is built through teamwork and inclusiveness.

“For the past three years, Osun state has been characterised more by optics and theatrics than by tangible development,” Yilwatda said.
“Governance has often appeared as performance, with little evidence of concrete projects or enduring impact that the people can genuinely point to.”
He said Osun deserved more than symbolism, adding that residents yearned for visible development, functional infrastructure, expanded economic opportunities, and purposeful leadership.

“With the APC, Osun is set for a clear shift in direction,” he said.
“From the moment we secure victory at the polls next year, the state will begin to witness real, measurable progress, projects that can be seen, touched, commissioned, and sustained.
“Roads, schools, healthcare facilities, economic initiatives, and people-centred policies will take centre stage.”
The APC chairman said the coming period would usher in an era where leadership would be judged by results rather than theatrics.

Yilwatda also said Osun remained the only south-west state President Bola Tinubu lost in the last general election.
He said the party is determined to reverse the outcome and deliver overwhelming support for Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
In his acceptance remarks, Oyebamiji thanked the party leadership for the confidence reposed in him.
He assured the NWC and party members that APC would record decisive victories in Osun in 2026 and 2027.

Oyebamiji said he is ready for the task ahead and pledged not to take the party’s support for granted.
“The people of Osun are ready,” he said.
