APC retains Ganye constituency seat in Adamawa assembly by-election

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has won the by-election for the Ganye constituency seat in the Adamawa state house of assembly.

The election was conducted following the death of Abdulmalik Musa, the APC lawmaker representing the constituency, in May 2024.

Announcing the results on Sunday, Tukur Ahmed, the returning officer, said Musa Misi of the APC polled 15,923 votes to defeat Buba Joda of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who earned 15,794 votes.

“Having satisfied the requirements of the law, Musa Misi of the APC is hereby declared the winner,” Ahmed said.

In his acceptance speech, Misi thanked the electorate for their support and promised to prioritise projects that would benefit the constituency.

Martins Babale, former deputy governor of the state and APC chieftain, described the poll as credible and peaceful.

He also commended the federal government for beginning rehabilitation work on the long-abandoned Ganye-Bulo-Jada road.
