Buhari died on Sunday in a clinic in London, following a prolonged illness.

In a statement issued on Monday, Felix Morka, national publicity secretary of the party, said the decision was announced by Bukar Dalori, acting national chairman of the APC.

Morka said the secretariat will remain closed from Monday, July 14, and will be reopened on Thursday, July 17.

He urged party members to observe the period as a time for quiet reflection and prayer.

“We urge party faithful to use this period of national mourning for quiet reflection and prayers for the repose of the soul of our departed leader,” he said.

Buhari, who served as Nigeria’s military head of state between 1984 and 1985, was elected civilian president in 2015 and re-elected in 2019.
