Some All Progressives Congress (APC) ward executives in Yamaltu/Deba LGA of Gombe state have resigned their positions over the rift between Danjuma Goje, senator representing Gombe central, and Inuwa Yahaya, the state governor.

Recently, Goje accused Yahaya of sending thugs to attack him while he was on a visit to the state.

Reacting, the governor said the senator wanted to cause mayhem in the state but the people resisted him.

Speaking with journalists on Thursday in Gombe, Sulaiman Ibrahim, immediate past chairman of the APC in Yamaltu/Deba, said “80 percent” of the ward in the LGA resigned their positions over the “disrespect” to Goje by the governor.

Ibrahim said the senator is the only recognised leader of the APC in Gombe and he deserves utmost respect considering the “critical role he played in forming and nurturing the party”.

“In fact, it was the key role he played that culminated to the emergence of Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya as governor of the state and victory of the party across all levels,” he said.

“Therefore, as political leaders of APC in the 11 wards of Yamaltu/Deba LGA.

The former chairman said the “unmatched achievements” of Goje in the last 10 years through numerous constituency projects have touched the lives of his constituents.

He said these projects could be seen across the 11 wards of the LGA.
