APC will expand control to 30 states before end of 2027, says PGF DG

Folorunso Aluko, the director-general of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), has predicted that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will govern at least 30 states by the end of 2027.

After the defection of Peter Mbah, governor of Enugu, from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC, the ruling party now controls 24 states out of the 36 in the country.

Speaking on Thursday at the PGF quarterly strategy meeting of commissioners of information from APC-governed states in Maiduguri, Aluko said the PGF is reviewing progress and strengthening its strategic posture to align messaging with measurable impact.

“As we look towards 2027, our conviction remains firm. The APC will grow stronger. Our states will increase in number, and our people will prosper,” he said.

“By the grace of God and the will of Nigerians, we are confident that the PGF will rise from today’s 24 states to at least 30 states before the end of 2027.”

Aluko likened governance to a relay race, adding that the collective responsibility of leaders is important in nation-building.

He urged commissioners to tell Nigeria’s story truthfully, amplify citizens’ voices with empathy, and guide the nation towards progress.

“Under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu, supported by the progressive governors, we shall continue to build a Nigeria that works for all—strong, united and full of hope,” he added.
