APC’s Elegbeji wins Ogun by-election, to succeed late Onanuga in house of reps

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Adesola Elegbeji of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the Remo federal constituency by-election in Ogun state.

The seat became vacant following the death of Adewunmi Onanuga, who had represented the constituency in two assemblies.

Announcing the result on Sunday, Kazeem Bello, the returning officer for the election, said Elegbeji satisfied all electoral requirements and was therefore returned as the constituency’s new lawmaker.

Bello said Elegbeji polled 41,237 votes to defeat Bolarinwa Oluwole of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who scored 14,324 votes.
