Kamilu Sa’idu
Kamilu Sa’idu, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has been declared winner of the Kaura Namoda South state constituency by-election in Zamfara.
Lawal Sa’ad, returning officer and professor at the Federal University Gusau, announced the final tally as 8,182 votes for the APC against 5,543 for the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) Muhammad Lawal Kurya.
The supplementary poll held on Thursday followed the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) declaration of the August 16 exercise as inconclusive after cancellations in Sakajiki and Kyambarawa wards.
The by-election was conducted to fill the seat left vacant by Aminu Ibrahim Kasuwar Daji, the APC lawmaker who died on April 9.

INEC had fixed the supplementary vote for five affected polling units after the initial suspension of collation.
Debo Ologunagba, PDP national publicity secretary, had earlier alleged voter intimidation and warned that the party “will reject any result that is at variance with the expressed will of the people”.
