The Lutheran Church of Christ in Nigeria (LCCN) says the Muslim-Muslim ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) portends danger for the country.

Musa Filibus, archbishop of LCCN and president Lutheran world federation, said this in a video published by AIT on Tuesday.

Bola Tinubu, presidential candidate of APC, who is a Muslim from the south-west, had on July 10 announced Kashim Shettima, a Muslim from the north-east, as his running mate.

The move has since sparked criticism from some Nigerians who described it as an “injustice” to the Christian fold.

Filibus asked the federal government to intensify its efforts in tackling insecurity in the country.

“The present position of the APC no matter how it is explained does not mean well for a nation that is trying to deepen the culture of democracy and democratization process for the good of all people in their diversities,” Filibus said.

“It will be recalled that when this government was elected for its first term that people across all regions and religions were excited and hopeful about the three point agender it committed to address namely: insecurity, corruption and the economy.

“These agenda points gave the citizens some level of assurance that the government is serious to take on the issues that bedevil the nation and further transformed by the inaugural address of the president Muhammadu Buhari GCFR during his swearing in ceremony, where he categorically said “I belong to everybody and I belong to nobody.”

“Regrettably, our nation today is marked by laments rather than the joyful expectations with the government was welcomed.”
