APGA: Soludo’s landslide win reflects people’s trust in his reforms

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) says Charles Soludo’s “landslide” triumph in the Anambra governorship election is a “reaffirmation of the party as the true political identity of Ndi Igbo and the custodian of Anambra’s development aspirations”.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Soludo winner after he polled 422,664 votes to defeat Nicholas Ukachukwu, his closest challenger, who got 99,445 votes.

A statement on Sunday by Ejimofor Opara, national publicity secretary of APGA, said the governor’s re-election — with 73 percent of total votes cast and victories in 98 percent of the 326 electoral wards — reflected the people’s trust in his leadership and reforms.

“Ndi Anambra have once again delivered a clear, unequivocal, and overwhelming mandate — affirming their trust in Governor Soludo’s visionary leadership, bold reforms, and unwavering commitment to building a liveable and prosperous homeland,” the statement reads.

“This landslide triumph is not merely an electoral outcome; it is a referendum on performance, a celebration of progressive governance, and a reaffirmation of APGA as the true political identity of Ndi Igbo and the custodian of Anambra’s development aspirations.”

Opara said the result demonstrated the people’s confidence in Soludo’s “bold reforms and unwavering commitment to building a liveable and prosperous homeland”.

He also thanked President Bola Tinubu for ensuring an atmosphere of peace and fairness during the poll and commended INEC for conducting a “transparent and credible” election.

The party further praised the security agencies for their professionalism and vigilance in maintaining peace across the state.

However, Opara expressed sadness over the killing of Francis Onyeka Ibe, councillor of Owerre-Ezukala and leader of the Orumba south council, who was shot dead by gunmen shortly after casting his vote.

“We mourn the death of our member, Mr Francis Onyeka Ibe. We pray for the peaceful repose of his soul and call for the swift arrest and prosecution of his killers,” Opara said.

He expressed gratitude to the people of Anambra for their courage and patriotic participation, saying they were the true winners of the election.

“In the true APGA spirit of onye aghana nwanne ya, we urge all candidates and political parties who participated in the election to accept Governor Soludo’s olive branch and join hands with him to consolidate peace and development,” he said.

Opara added that while elections are moments of contest, the work of nation-building requires unity, maturity, and shared purpose.
