The court of appeal sitting in Kaduna has upheld the election Nasir el-Rufai as governor of the state.

The appellate court gave the judgment on Thursday while dismissing the petition of Isah Ashiru, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in the March 9 poll.

Ashiru had challenged the outcome of the election at the tribunal but he lost. He had asked the tribunal to annul the election on the grounds that the process was flawed with fraud and irregularities but the tribunal upheld the election of el-Rufai, who contested on the the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Dissatisfied, the PDP candidate appealed the tribunal’s ruling.
