APPLY: Save the Children seeks entries for global journalism award

Save the Children

Save the Children International (SCI), the charity organisation, has launched its inaugural global media awards to celebrate excellence in journalism for child rights.

A statement issued Wednesday by the organisation said the awards commemorate the centennial anniversary since the League of Nations adopted the Declaration of the Rights of the Child, a milestone achievement spearheaded by Eglantyne Jebb, SCI’s founder.

Belinda Goldsmith, SCI director of the global media unit, said the organisation is thrilled to recognise remarkable efforts journalists make to report on issues affecting children while driving positive change.

“Journalism plays such a crucial role in advocating for the rights and well-being of children, while holding those responsible to account,” Goldsmith added.

Winners will be announced on November 20 which is World Children’s Day. They will receive a trophy, a personalised certificate, and an invitation to attend an SCI international press trip or programme.
