Rauf Aregbesola, Osun state governor, visited Ayodele Fayose, his Ekiti state counterpart, on Saturday.

According to Lere Olayinka, Fayose’s spokesman, Aregbesola visited Ekiti to commemorate with the state on its 20th anniversary.

The visit comes nine months after Aregbesola hosted Fayose at the government house in Osogbo.

Back then, there were reports that Fayose was in the state to ask his colleague help him beg President Muhammadu Buhari, but the Ekiti governor denied the allegation.

“This is my first official visit to any APC state in Nigeria. I am not in Osogbo to ask Aregbesola to help me beg as being speculated in some quarters. We are all Yoruba, politics is like water, it can flow anywhere,” he had said.

“I believe in the Yoruba race, the race comes first before the office of the governor. The race is eternal while that of governor is momentary. We must watch today to be guided by tomorrow. I am here for the unity of Yoruba as it affects the Oodua, the progenitor.”

In the past, both leaders have squared off, attacking one another publicly.
