Sylvester Igboun and Junior Ajayi lead in the attack which has Manu Garba, Golden Eaglets’ gaffer, as its coach.

Francis Uzoho [Omonia Nicosia]

The Deportivo La Coruna loanee kept Omonia Nicosia in the game and his save from Joao Pedro early on set his standards for the rest of the match. The Super Eagles number one was especially alert when saving brilliantly from Diego Agiurre and Adrián Sardinero. Inspired.

Stephen Eze [Lokomotiv Plovdiv]

Another commanding performance in the back line, making every tackle count and clearing the ball no less than 12 times. Eze held firm, was a real rock and crushed the enemies. Resolute.

Semi Ajayi [West Brom]

In a game that made underwater archery in the Antarctic look exciting, he was arguably the man of the match. Always exact in tackles he anticipated most of Huddersfield attacks. He also scored. Tenacious.

Kenneth Omeruo [Leganes]

Like the offspring of a rhino and a chieftain tank, he was unyielding, making several crucial challenges against Valencia. He also set up several attacks with some sublime passing. Determined.

Wilfred Ndidi [Leicester City]

He put in a tireless performance, making five key passes, more tackles than anyone else and delayed, destroyed and disrupted the hosts whenever possible. Never frightened to take on his man and when he did he inevitably beat his opponent. Energetic.

Ramon Azeez [Granada]

Always alert to any chance, he was lively and covered every blade of grass in his pursuit of the points. The energetic player also inspired quite a few attacks and scored the opener in the stunning win over Barcelona. Persistent.

Chidera Ejuke [Hereenveen]

Like a warthog chased by a cheetah he was a bag full of feints and false stops. He continued to be a menace to the opponents. Relentless.

Samuel Chukwueze [Villarreal]

A real handful as he served up some great balls into the area and assisted Javi Ontiveros’ goal. Always tricky with the ball, he split Real Valladolid asunder with some amazing dribbles. Threatening.

Joe Aribo [Rangers]

Always looking to cause problems for St. Johnstone right from the whistle and in the second-half he did, setting up Jermaine Defoe’s second goal. Exceptional.

Sylvester Igboun [Dinamo Moscow]

Despite a 3-2 loss to Sochi, the forward was in dazzling form and scored twice in the second half. Outstanding.

Junior Ajayi [Al Ahly]

A man of the match performance. Al Ahly managed to lift their 11th Egypt Super Cup trophy after beating arch-rivals Zamalek 3-2 in a hard-fought encounter. The Reds’ forward Junior Ajayi received a lot of praise following his excellent performance during the game as he gave his side the lead in the 19th minute before completing his brace at the start of the second half. Sensational.
