Many Nigerian players were in action for their respective clubs across the world over the weekend.

The top performers made TheCable’s team of the week.

Matthew Yakubu – Sered

He made a string of excellent saves for Sered last weekend in the Slovakian top flight.

Kevin Akpoguma – Hoffenheim

A great performance from the Hoffenheim defender, Akpoguma knew how to position himself in many situations during the game against Werder Bremen.

Kenneth Omeruo – Leganes

He was nearly impossible to beat. Omeruo won the ball back many times for his team and easily controlled the Oviedo attackers.

William Troost-Ekong – Watford

William Troost-Ekong was simply excellent in Watford’s cracker with Nottingham Forest. He helped organise the back line — which earned him the “man of the match”.

Brian Idowu – Khimki

The full back once again displayed his grace, skills, and vision. Idowu scored his second goal of the season in the 2-0 win against FC Rostov.

Ovie Ejaria – Reading

Ejaria was decisive in Reading’s victory against Rotherham United. He assisted Yekou Meite for the first goal.

Joe Aribo – Rangers

Joe Aribo showed why he is the star man for Rangers with an impressive performance and goal against Livingston.

John Obi Mikel – Stoke City

A virtuoso display from the former Super Eagles skipper who was unstoppable.

Obafemi Martins – Wuhan Zall

The striker produced an outstanding performance for Wuhan Zall. Martins netted a last gasp equaliser against Henan Jianye.

Victor Moses – Spartak Moscow

The winger carried much of the attacking load for Spartak Moscow. He also found the back of the net.

Daryl Dike – Orlando City

Demonstrated his strength in Orlando City’s attack. Scored their only goal in the loss to Inter Miami.
