Army ‘kills’ seven Boko Haram commanders

The Nigerian army says its troops in collaboration with the multinational joint task force (MNJTF) have eliminated seven commanders of Boko Haram in Tumbus of Lake Chad region.

Sagir Musa, the acting director of army public relations, disclosed this in a statement in Abuja, on Friday.

Musa said the neutralised commanders were Abba Mainok, Bukar Dunokaube, Abu kololo, and Abor Kime, who is said to be of Arab origin and likely the ISIS trainer. Others are Mann Chari, Dawoud Abdoulaye from Mali and Abu Hamza.

“All these were said to be commanders of various Tumbus controlling fighters before they were decisively dealt with l by the military bombardment,” Musa said.

“Although these names may not be real and may likely nicknames. Nonetheless, it is an unprecedented feat to our quest of clearing the remnants of these criminals in the area.

“Consequently, efforts are ongoing to get more information on their true identities.”

He said the troops are in a celebratory mood because of the successful operation, resulting from the combined efforts of artillery and air bombardments of suspected hideouts of the insurgents.

He also said Tukur Buratai, the chief of army staff, commended the troops for the great feat and enjoined them to do more.
