The Nigerian Army says its troops have rescued one of the abducted Chibok schoolgirls, with a four-year-old child.

The army announced the development in a statement on Saturday.

The rescued abductee, identified as Aisha Grema, and her child, were said to have been rescued by troops of 21 special armoured brigade, sector 1, operation Hadin Kai at Bama LGA, Borno.

On April 14, 2014, over 200 schoolgirls were abducted when insurgents attacked the Government Girls’ Secondary School (GGSS) in Chibok, Borno state.

Grema was listed as number 11 on the list of the abducted Chibok students still in captivity as of 21.

According to the statement, three other girls — Mwanret Daspan (29), Claris Fidel (22), a national of Chad, and Hauwa (12) — were rescued by troops of 242 battalion, sector 3, operation Hadin Kai, at Mongonu LGA of Borno state.

Hauwa, according to the army, has been in captivity since she was an infant.

She commended the troops for their efforts, and said the rescued persons will be supported by the military and the Borno government to reunite them with their families.

Over 100 girls have so far been rescued in the last seven years.
