The Nigerian army says its troops have rescued three persons who were kidnapped by bandits in Jalingo, the Taraba state capital.

In a statement on Wednesday, Olubodunde Oni, assistant public relations officer of Brigade 6, said the rescue operation was carried out by troops of 114 Battalion on January 29.

He said the troops acted on intelligence regarding the movement of the bandits with their victims from Ardo-Kola to Yoro.

The statement added that the operatives were deployed to Apawa village of Yoro LGA and swiftly trailed the gunmen.
