Tolu Arokodare scored his first goal for Wolverhampton Wanderers in the team’s 2-0 victory over Everton in the Carabao Cup third round.

The 24-year-old produced a cheeky finish in the 87th minute to seal the comfortable win at the Molineux Stadium on Tuesday.

Mashall Munetsi had put Wolves ahead in the 29th minute with a brilliant strike.

The host would not add to their lead until Arokodare, off the bench, produced a moment of craftiness to cushion Wolves’ advantage.

Joao Gomes fed the Nigerian with a well-measured pass through a disarrayed Everton defence. Arokodare collected the ball before delicately chipping his shot over the onrushing Jordan Pickford.

The goal was Akorodare’s first for Wolves since his £24 million move to Molineux from Genk earlier this month.

In other matches, Chelsea had to come from a goal behind to defeat second division side Lincoln City FC.

The Championship club raced to the lead in the first half before two second-half goals from Tyrique George and Facundo Buonanotte pulled the Blues out of danger.

Hugo Ekitike scored and was also sent off in Liverpool’s 2-1 win over Southampton. Alexander Isak’s first goal for Liverpool was the opener in the nerve-wracking encounter.
