Arsenal have won the appeal against defender Gabriel’s red card during Saturday’s 2-0 defeat by Chelsea.

The 24-year-old defender was sent off by referee Mike Dean for violent conduct after a clash with the Blues striker Diego Costa at Stamford Bridge.

The Brazilian will now not serve a three-match suspension but is subject to a separate Football Association charge of improper conduct to which he has until on Thursday to respond.

Costa was also charged with violent conduct following a clash with Laurent Koscielny.
