Asaba 2018: Nigeria wins gold in women’s 4x100m title, long jump, discuss

The Nigerian quartet of Joy Udo-Gabriel, Blessing Okagbare, Tobi Amusan and Rosemary Chukwuma won gold medal in the women’s 4x100m final at the African Athletics Championship.

Team Nigerian got the first spot in a time of 43.77 seconds to be crowned African champions.

Akanni Simbine anchored team South Africa to claim the gold medal in the final of the men’s 4x100m.

South Africa beat Nigeria to the first spot in a time of 38.25 seconds.

Team Nigeria’s quartet of Ogho-Oghene Egwero, Divine Oduduru, Emmanuel Arowolo and Seye Ogunlewe took the silver medal.

Meanwhile, Ese Brume equalled her season’s best mark of 6.83m to clinch gold medal in the women’s long jump event.

Brume won in Marrakech and Durban in 2014 and 2016 respectively, making her the first athlete (man or woman) to win three gold medals at the championships.

Chioma Onyekwere surpassed her bronze medal feat in Durban two years ago to clinch gold in the women’s discus throw final.
