The Asaba Development Union World Wide (ADUWW) has teamed up with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), NEXIM Bank, National Directorate of Employment (NDE) and Industrial Training Fund (ITF) to empower youths in Asaba, Delta state capital.

ADUWW encompasses all Asaba organisations that are working for the development of Asaba indigenes.

Epiphany Azinge, the president-general of ADUWW, said the union has set up the Asaba Youth Investment Trust Fund to help build the capacity of the youths to conquer challenges.

Speaking during a two-day empowerment programme, Azinge said the CBN, NEXIM Bank, NDE and ITF have pledged to support and help drive the youth empowerment programme. 

“This trust fund is a response to the need to reposition our youths to face the challenges of a dynamic world,” he said. 

Ifeanyi Egwunyenga, the Delta commissioner for youth development, admonished the participants on the importance of the training, which according to him, “was important to enable beneficiaries understand how to manage funds for profit yield”.

He promised that his ministry would help the beneficiaries to develop and manage their businesses.

Also speaking, Ogbueshi Fred Okonta, chairman of the ADUWW investment trust fund committee, said the empowerment programme would be continuous to help build a better Asaba. 

Some of the beneficiaries received cheques of various amounts. They include; Oburoh Fumnanya (fashion design), Ekeneam Amazoi (poultry farming), Jeffery Jones Bardi (fish farming) and Joseph Uchechukwu Ideke (laundry).
