Adebayo Oladeji, special assistant (media and communications) to Samson Ayokunle, president of CAN, said a statement will be issued later.

The leadership of CAN in the 19 northern states has expressed shock over the incident, saying he died at a time when the people and the church needed someone like him who stood for the truth.

Asake’s death came less than two weeks after he led protests over the nationwide killings.

The association had protested the killing of Christians in different parts of the country.

In his reaction, President Muhammadu Buhari commiserated with the family of the late reverend and prays that God would comfort all those who mourn the departed, and grant his soul eternal rest.

Buhari said this in a statement which Femi Adesina, his spokesman, issued on his behalf.
