Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), says President Muhammadu Buhari is preaching violence in Nigeria, adding that “this is not his first time” of doing so.

Speaking in Port Harcourt on Monday, Atiku said Buhari was in Zamfara over the weekend, preaching violence in the northwestern state.

“Do you know what the president said yesterday in Zamfara when he went there? He said Zamfara people, let us pray for rainfall, let us pray we grow food, let us pray we eat bellefull, and then we can make trouble,” Atiku said.

“Is that what a president should say? Buhari, I am addressing you. This is a president who is preaching violence, and this is not the first time he has done so in this country.

“We are not going to allow any person to knock our heads and make us fight; we want peace, we want prosperity, we want development, we want jobs — that is what we want for this country.

“We are not ready to fight each other again; so any leader who has come to instigate us to fight against each other, we will use our ballot papers to throw him out. So Buhari must go, Buhari must go, Buhari must go — I love you all, I swear to God”.

Atiku said he will protect the constitution, and not interfere in the dealings of the national assembly and the judiciary, because he believes in checks and balances.

He said the Obasanjo-Atiku started the east-west highway, stating that it was abandoned by the All Progressives Congress (APC), and promised to complete it — if elected.

“I am the author of restructuring, we must restructure,” Atiku said, promising jobs, restructuring, the revival of seaports, and protection of the Nigerian constitution.

The former vice-president also accused Buhari of desecrating the constitution.
