The ministry of aviation and aerospace development has sought the collaboration of the armed forces to improve human resources, safety, defence and capacity building in the sector.

According to a statement by Odutayo Oluwaseyi, the ministry’s head of press and public affairs, Kana expressed the ministry’s readiness to strengthen partnership with the armed forces, particularly the Nigerian Air Force (NAF).

Abubakar noted the importance of military aviation, even though “civil aviation is the lead in the sector”.

He expressed optimism that a harmonious relationship between military personnel, civilians, passengers, and other airport users is possible.

The permanent secretary thanked the chief of air staff, assuring him that he will inform Festus Keyamo, minister of aviation and aerospace development, of his request for more space and extension of the air force hangar at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

He further noted the need to have a VIP lounge at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, as a timely and welcome development that will be looked into by the minister and relevant authorities.

Also speaking, the chief of air staff acknowledged the ministry of aviation as strategic partner and the lead in aviation in Nigeria.

Abubakar said the NAF is ready to partner with the ministry, particularly in the area of safety, capacity building.

The chief of air staff requested the deployment of more air force personnel at the ministry and its agencies to ensure a harmonious relationship, pledging the support of the NAF at the forthcoming International Air show in Lagos.
