The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) has advised staff to avoid taking public transport to work as much as possible.

This was contained in a work schedule for staff resumption published on Sunday by Bashir Umar, head of FIRS human capital management department.

According to the schedule, FIRS offices would be open in all states where the lockdown has been eased.

“All FIRS offices nationwide would be open to taxpayers with the exception of states that are under complete lockdown, staff in such states can continue to work from home,” the schedule read.

“For all head office functions, staff from manager and above (SL 6 and above) and drivers are expected to come to work daily, while staff from deputy manager to officer II (SL 7- SL 10) and others, are to rotate their work time as may be agreed by the relevant department

“State coordinators, tax controllers and state monitors are to ensure the rotation of job functions in their various offices on either weekly, fortnightly, or as may be mutually agreed.

Staff were advised to “avoid taking public transport to work as much as possible unless the vehicle is not operating at full capacity or conveying large passengers”.
